The Penn Ave bridge closure is coming this February—but you don’t have to face the detour alone. Join the Bryn Mawr Active Transportation Committee, alongside MnDOT and MetroTransit, for a transportation open house to find your new favorite way to get around and learn about new art coming to Bryn Mawr streets. The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, between 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the lobby of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church (420 Cedar Lake Rd S).
Come anytime - Light refreshments, raffle with prizes & swag provided!
Can’t make it to the workshop? Fill out the survey here or reach out to activetransit@bmna.org with details about your commute and we will help.
Workshop attendees can access a variety of resources designed for all commuters, including:
Transit Training: Practice loading your bike on the bus! A Metro Transit bus will be on-site for hands-on practice using bike racks, and Metro Transit staff will give a presentation to help you learn the ropes of bus commuting. Community members will also be available to answer questions about paying for bus rides and using the Transit app to make bus commuting smoother.
Commuter Networking: Tools and resources to help neighbors coordinate carpools and shared commutes.
Winter Cycling: Demonstrations on gear and techniques for biking safely in and comfortably in cold weather.
Pedestrian Routes: Maps and advice for Bryn Mawrtians looking to incorporate more walking into their daily routines.
Paint the Pavement Kick-Off: Learn more about the community-led effort to use pavement art at key intersections, meet the artist Aza Erdrich Abe, signing party for neighbors living on proposed intersections, sign-up for painting this spring, and ask questions.
Build Community: Mingle, enjoy refreshments, connect with neighbors, and celebrate together.
Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or a first-time bus rider, this workshop offers practical, neighborhood-specific solutions to stay mobile during the upcoming construction. Even without Penn Ave, you've got options to rewrite your commute.
