Our March topic is Mapping Prejudice: Examining the Complex Legacies of Racist HousingPolicies.
Our speakers, Kristen Delegard, Penny Peterson and Kevin Ehrman-Solberg will bring understanding to the Minneapolis history of racial covenants or racially-restrictive deeds. These covenants and deeds, used in most American cities until 1968, prevented people of color, particularly African Americans, from buying or occupying property.
Learn how the Mapping Prejudice project is working to identify and to map racial restrictions buried in historic Minneapolis property deeds.
We’ll gather at the Black Forest Inn (26th and Nicollet) at 5:30 p.m. for networking with the presentation beginning at 6:15 p.m. Civic Buzz meetings are free and open to the public.
